THE MORE THAN BLOG #1

Welcome to the blog for Vet-4-Vets.com and Morethananxiety.com

"HUNT THE GOOD STUFF"

Hello, and welcome to the "More Than" Blog. I am Ronald Smith, the founder of Vet-4-vets.com and morethananxiety.com (still under construction). I am here to update you weekly on ways we can improve in small ways to keep ourselves moving forward. But since this blog will deal with mental health and how to help ourselves overcome our darkest moments, the following must be said.

IF YOU HAVE THOUGHTS ABOUT SUICIDE, STOP NOW, CALL 911, AND ASK FOR HELP!

Life is a journey, not a weekend camping trip. We can't go somewhere without cell reception and forget about the world……ok maybe we can…..but it isn't a good solution for more than a weekend. Let's face it; there is no simple solution to solve all your problems; if there were, you wouldn't be a human. There are as many ways of finding solutions and situations as there are humans on the planet, and each of you has your perspective on how you look at the world. That uniqueness is special, what makes you a fantastic individual and needed in the world.

If everyone saw everything the same, we wouldn't get to have great discussions on almost every topic. And since April is Mental Health Awareness month, I figured ways to help you improve your mental well-being is a good place to start.

As a Veteran who spent over 17 years in the US Army and now faces mental health challenges, I want to share with you a mindset that can help you look at the world differently - "Hunt The Good Stuff." For those of you that are veterans, you're probably snickering to yourself right now, and I get it. But hang with me for a few more minutes, and I'll explain what I mean; for those who aren't veterans, I ask you to ride with me as well.

The power of this phrase lies in its unique meaning to each person. Your interpretation will be and should be different from others, making it so powerful. I challenge everyone this week to think about what "Hunt The Good Stuff" means to you. Don't settle for simplistic answers; dig deeper and find something honest, raw, and authentic to yourself. You must understand that if you are not honest with yourself, you will not get an answer that will stand up to the question "Why?" when asked by someone else. When you find your answer, ask yourself, "Will this bring me joy, peace, or help those I truly care about." I think you know the answer to that question, and you will also have your answer to "why?" if someone asks you what your "good stuff is."

Your meaning of "Hunt the Good Stuff" will and should change as you progress through life, just like you do. So, find your "good stuff" and keep fighting and moving forward. I look forward to exploring more with you next week.

When you figure out your "good stuff," please comment and let me know what "Hunt the Good Stuff" means to you!

I'll answer you with my answer

next week, so subscribe and stay tuned.
